getting there |
Williamsport is located in north-central Pennsylvania, just off I-180.
The closest major airports are in Newark, NJ, Philadelphia, PA, Baltimore, MD, and Rochester NY. All are approximately 3 hours from event HQ. There are various regional airports closer to Williamsport, but you will need to research travel logistics as larger planes do not service many/any of them. If flying with bike boxes and/or large gear bins, make sure you check to see if these local airports can accommodate such oversized baggage. We are exploring whether there is a feasible way to assist teams with transportation from ONE of these major airports. We will update the site and racers when we are able to confirm - no later than early spring. For teams considering shipping bikes, we offer an option for retrieving bikes in Williamsport in the coming months. |
Lodging |
Lodging for Sunday pre-race and Saturday post-race are included in entry. Teams will be housed in double-occupancy dorm rooms with communal bathrooms at Lycoming College, where all pre-race activities will take place. Upon registering for the event, racers will have the option of purchasing rooms for additional nights.

Food |
Downtown Williamsport has numerous pubs, restaurants, coffee shops, and fast-food options all within easy walking distance of the center.
In addition to smaller markets, the following groceries are all located in downtown Williamsport: Family Dollar (two locations), Wegmans, and Weis. We recommend Wegmans; it is central and has the largest selection. |
Supplies and Gear |
There are a number of pharmacies in and around Williamsport; Wegman's is a good one-stop spot to do your food shopping and take care of pharmacy needs. There is also a Rite Aid downtown.
There is a Walmart at exit 21 off of I-180 that can serve as your general catch-all |
Gear storage |
During the event we hope to offer some gear storage and long-term parking. Details TBC.

Rootstock Racing designs courses that take you to the best parts an area has to offer. My Rootstock experience has been both beautiful and brutal at times! I appreciate their organization in the lead up to, and especially on, race day. Finally, I cannot compliment their network of volunteers enough. You can tell their events are a labor of love by everyone. -Anne Lang, Team brf barf |
